Rising Sun’s policy agenda integrates climate solutions with workforce, equity, and climate resilient infrastructure to advocate for equitable access to green career pathways while addressing the effects of climate change on vulnerable communities. In short, the best climate policies also prioritize workforce development and economic justice.
Rising Sun’s Guiding Policy Principles
In pursuit of our mission to build career pathways for economic equity and climate resilience, Rising Sun established six principles to guide our advocacy agenda:
Expand access, quality, and quantity of green jobs for low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Equal Access to Investments
Ensure that when government invests in clean energy technologies, energy efficiency, and other environmental investments, all low-income and disadvantaged communities directly benefit.
Invest in green and construction workforce development for low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Support early employment opportunities and career training for low-income and disadvantaged youth to prepare them for green careers.
Residential Energy Efficiency
Encourage the elimination of barriers to participation in residential energy efficiency programs.
Further the adoption of clean technology through thoughtful government investment.
