Rising Sun Center for Opportunity Grand Opening event Oakland, CA – January 7th, 2019 – On Wednesday, January 30th, at 4 pm, Rising Sun Center
for Opportunity will celebrate our 25th Birthday at our Grand Opening event with the inauguration of our new brand and new building! The event is located at our new facility: 1116 36th Street, Oakland, which is part of the San Pablo Ave SPARC Corridor.

Rising Sun has just undergone a rebranding! We are moving on from our original name, Rising Sun Energy Center, and launching our new name, Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, a change that reflects our mission and values. At the same time, we are celebrating our new home at
1116 36th Street and San Pablo in Oakland. We purchased this building and are excited to put down roots and truly make a home in this mission-aligned neighborhood.

The Grand Opening event will celebrate these exciting changes with the help of approximately 400 guests, including Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and other elected officials, corporate partners, community organizations, program participants, and individual supporters. State Senator Nancy Skinner expressed her enthusiasm for Rising Sun’s grand opening: “For 25 years Rising Sun has been a community leader on workforce development and direct energy and water efficiency services. Their commitment to economic and climate equity is crucial to addressing our climate crisis. I am thrilled Rising Sun has secured a much-deserved new home in my District! ”

Guests at the Grand Opening will enjoy beer from Drake’s Brewing Company, Market Hall hors-d’oeuvres, Nothing Bundt Cakes desserts and family friendly games. To attend this free event , an RSVP is required and individuals can register through Rising Sun’s website: https://risingsunopp.org/events/

Grand Opening sponsors include Accenture, A2Q2, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Sunrun, Signature Development, BBI Construction, Miller Starr Regalia, Sheet Metal Workers Local 104, Wells Fargo Bank, AC Transit, Genentech, California Solar and Storage Association, Dan and Mindy Carrington, Melissa Koenigsberg, The Greenlining Institute, Sierra Club, and Beneficial State Bank.
