Director of Development and Communications

This position is an integral part of Rising Sun’s commitment to make a significant and lasting impact in the lives of hundreds of people every year.  The Director of Development and Communication leads the organization’s fundraising, external communications, and marketing initiatives. This position manages a high-functioning team and works to increase and diversify funding while elevating the organization’s brand recognition and visibility at the community and thought-leader levels.


Opportunity Build: Case Manager

Rising Sun’s Case Manager is responsible for supporting and empowering our GETS adult participants to overcome barriers they experience to successful employment, such as limited work experience, recent incarceration, housing instability, substance abuse recovery, or long-term unemployment. The Case Manager meets regularly with each participant, helps them to develop a Personal Development Plan, coordinates referrals, maintains case files, and teaches life skills classes, all with a goal of assisting participants to address their barriers and gain sustainable employment that can lift them out of poverty.



Temporary Position: Grant Associate

Rising Sun seeks a temporary Grant Associate to support our Development team while the grant associate staff is on leave. This is a 5-month temporary position. The position will grow institutional support for Rising Sun’s innovative work promoting income equality and climate resilience. The Temporary Grant Associate will be focused on grant writing, researching and prospecting institutional funders as well as, managing and maintaining the grant and reporting processes.



Climate Careers: Program Assistant

Rising Sun is looking for Program Assistants (PA) to support regional management teams across our four programmatic regions. PA responsibilities include operational and administrative support, Green House Call delivery and quality control, and job task-related feedback to youth employees. Climate Careers: Summer Program Manager

The Summer Program Manager (Summer PM) position implements the Climate Careers program in a specific county or set of counties, in the greater Bay Area while also supporting the overall goals of the Climate Careers program. This position calls for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who can balance multiple priorities. A successful candidate will equally enjoy administrative tasks, community engagement, and direct supervision and development of youth.



Climate Careers: Youth Development Specialist

The Youth Development Specialist (YDS) is responsible for supporting a cohort of 31-33 youth, ages 15-24, in three satellite Climate Careers site offices. The YDS’ goal is to help youth identify and overcome barriers to program participation to support retention and programmatic success. Additionally, the YDS will be responsible for the enrichment of participants through various forms of professional skills development and career planning.



Climate Careers: Energy Coach

Rising Sun is looking for an Energy Coach to help us roll out our new online home energy-saving platform: Home Energy Analytics. Over the course of the 7.5-month contract period, the Energy Coach will become well versed in identifying high energy users, offering personalized energy efficiency coaching, and installing smart thermostats to curb residents’ energy usage. We are looking for an effective communicator and natural marketer who is interested building a project from the ground up to help the Greater Bay Area community save on their utility bills!



Climate Careers: Site Program Manager

Rising Sun’s Climate Careers youth program is looking for enthusiastic, mission-driven Site Program Managers to work in twelve locations across the Greater Bay Area. Leading up to our summer program, the Site Program Managers are responsible for community-based outreach to sign residents up for our energy-saving services and recruiting young people for paid summer jobs in a specific county or set of counties. During the summer program, the Site Program Manager transitions to managing youth at a satellite Climate Careers office.
