Learn what it means to join the Climate Careers team as an Energy Specialist, directly from program participants:
Climate Careers is a summer employment and training program for 15-22 year olds. As an Energy Specialist, you’ll help residents save energy, water, and money through Green House Calls.
When you work with Rising Sun, you’ll gain valuable professional skills, work in a supportive environment, earn a paycheck, AND help your community!
In summer 2019, we employed more than 120 youth in the Bay Area and San Joaquin County.
To be an Energy Specialist, you must be:
- Resident in an area where Climate Careers operates; these cities/counties can change each year.
- Between 15 and 22 years old.
- Committed to working four days a week for seven weeks during the summer.
- Ready to begin the best job of your life!
You’ll receive a week of training at the start of the program, in addition to weekly professional development sessions.
As an Energy Specialist, you’ll make a tangible, positive impact on the environment.
You’ll provide valuable, no-cost services to your community.
Leaders In Field Training (LIFT)
Have you previously worked as an Energy Specialist? Take the next step!
The LIFT position is a great opportunity for returning Energy Specialists ages 18-24 to continue participating in Climate Careers while learning technical, transferable skills. LIFT gain hands-on leadership and program management experience by assisting Summer Program Managers.
As a LIFT, you’ll continue to make a difference in your community and help the environment, all while earning a bigger paycheck.
