Well, East Bay Green Job Corps has officially ended. The barbeque we held in honor of the 98 graduates who completed the program over the year was a great success. I look forward to continuously hearing great things from and about all past participants of EBGJC. I know you are all wondering what I am doing now, with all of my great talent and wisdom. No worries, you’ll be in the dark no longer.
The Rising Sun office is bustling with movement, low toned chatter, fingers flying across keyboards of every computer. It’s almost musical. Why, you ask? Good question! We are gearing up for another awesome summer with the CYES program. I have had the privilege of assisting with the hiring of the 2011 Summer Site and Community Outreach Managers. Over the last month, we have interviewed well over 80 candidates and let me be the first to tell you, we have interviewed some truly remarkable individuals. Look forward to meeting the selected 21 managers this summer as they brave the hot summer sun canvassing their respective communities, gathering sign-ups for Green House Calls.
Today is a more laid-back day. I’m sitting at my desk, chomping on carrots and reflecting on how fortunate I have been to work for such a great organization with the most dedicated people; dedicated to saving the world, one light bulb at a time and to saving humanity, one youth/community at time.
On a final note, if anyone is interested I, along with 2 coworkers, will be tabling at the Albany Arts and Green Festival, which is being held this Sunday, May 1 at Memorial Park (1331 Portland Avenue, Albany, CA 94706) from 11 to 3. We will also be doing a torchiere swap that day, so if you or anyone you know would like a nice BRAND NEW energy efficient floor lamp, bring your old halogen floor lamp along with your PG&E bill down to the festival.
