In 2020, our in-home Green House Call service went virtual. While we’re proud to have helped Bay Area and San Joaquin residents address climate change from afar, we cannot wait to interact in person with our community. We’re sure that Griffin Boyle, former Climate Careers Energy Specialist and current Home Energy Advisor for Bellingham, Washington’s Community Energy Challenge, feels the same.

As a Home Energy Advisor, Griffin shepherds homeowners through the complicated process of improving their energy efficiency. From in-home audits to data-based analyses and recommendations, he simplifies time-consuming challenges so adroitly it seems magical. In a world where we’ve mastered the ability to talk, Griffin acts.

As a young adult in the Bay Area, Griffin noticed that many of his neighbors “had limited access to efficiency upgrades due to lack of funds, education, or ability.” In summer 2018, he joined Climate Careers as an Energy Specialist, acting where his community needed it most. He quickly realized that educating people is perfectly suited to his talents.

“One of the best parts about my work with the Community Energy Challenge is that I am working to improve the lives of those in my community. That makes a huge difference in keeping me motivated and excited. Helping to build the community I love gives new meaning to the work I do every day.”

Griffin’s passion for a just and sustainable future defines his career trajectory. “The way I see it, you can either work for systemic change or you can work on the consumer level. Both of these approaches are valid, and I intend to explore both through my career. Luckily for me, Rising Sun and the Community Energy Challenge have allowed me to further my career with inspired and passionate people in communities that mean the world to me.”
