The Chief Program Officer (CPO) will oversee Rising Sun’s workforce development program portfolio, leading the vision, strategy, design, execution, evaluation, and enhancement of all programs across regions alongside three strong program directors and their teams. The CPO will ensure alignment between programming, strategy, financial resources, and organizational mission, vision, values, and goals. Balancing strategic leadership with hands-on partnership, the CPO will work closely with the CEO, program directors, frontline staff, external partners, program participants, and funders.
Climate Careers uses a social enterprise model to combine home energy- and water-saving services with youth development. Our no-cost Green House Call service consists of energy and water use assessments, installation of efficiency devices, and client education. Youth program participants deliver this service to thousands of homes every summer while growing personally and professionally, advancing on to paid externships in the fall with organizations doing climate-related work to increase their career exposure and experience.

The LIFT position is for emerging climate leaders ages 18-24 from low-income households. Participants will develop leadership skills by providing coaching, mentorship, and training to Energy Specialists and drivers. Youth will participate in recurring professional development workshops, explore career pathways and make connections. Upon successful completion of the Green House Call program, they will continue paid employment with Rising Sun through a fall externship program that places them with a trusted partner organization to gain additional career exposure to the green economy as they build their professional network and resume.
The Outreach Coordinator (OC) is responsible for supporting the outreach team to generate client leads and book appointments as part of a regional grassroots outreach campaign. This position is a fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals looking to increase their community outreach, marketing, and communication experience. Climate Careers targets populations that include low to moderate-income residents, seniors, renters, and non-native English speakers. Strategies include tabling at events and presentations to community groups. The Outreach Coordinator will report directly to Rising Sun’s Outreach Manager, Central Valley.
Outreach Manager, Climate Careers Bay Area
Rising Sun seeks an Outreach Manager to support the success of the Climate Careers program in the Bay Area. The Outreach Manager reports directly to the Senior Community Engagement Manager and helps supervise a team of temporary staff. In addition, the Outreach Manager works closely with the Regional Managers and collaboratively with the Climate Careers team to accomplish the goals of the Climate Careers program.
The Summer Program Manager (SPM) position implements the Climate Careers program in a specific city throughout the greater Bay Area while supporting the overall goals of the Climate Careers program. There will be two Summer Program Managers at each site office to implement and oversee the Green House Call goals, processes, and deliverables. The Summer Program Managers at each site office will supervise 9 youth participants and are jointly responsible for site office administration, client identification/booking, and client service delivery oversight.
